nd-ranked California (PA) took advantage of 27 hits, including five homeruns, on its way to dealing the Pitt-Johnstown softball team a pair of 10-0 PSAC Western Division losses, Wednesday afternoon in California.  Pitt-Johnstown fell to 3-13 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
 
In game one, the Vulcans, who broke the game open with seven second inning runs, banged out 15 hits and got homeruns from Jacquelyn Fowler and Natalya Smarra in the 10-0 victory.
 
Stephanie Seibert was 2-for-2, while 
Taylor Hoover, 
Shannon Wittig, and 
Emily Moore also had base hits for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Melissa Wagner lasted just 1.2 innings in the circle for Pitt-Johnstown.  Wagner, who dropped to 1-7 on the season, allowed seven runs (4 earned) on eight hits.  Moore pitched the final 2.1 innings and gave up three earned runs on seven California (PA) hits.
 
Smarra was 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and three RBI to lead the Vulcans.  Kaity Finley added three hits, and Fowler singled, homered and drove in two.
 
In the nightcap, California (PA) scored eight runs in the first two innings off of Pitt-Johnstown starter 
Rachel Hoffman and coasted to the 10-0 win.
 
Emily Price, Hailey Wilson, and Shelby Heyd all belted homeruns for the Vulcans.  Heyd and Wilson each drove in three and Price knocked in a pair.
 
Pitt-Johnstown was held to just two hits, singles from 
Amanda O'Toole and Wagner.
 
Hoffman suffered the loss and dropped to 2-5.  Hoffman surrendered eight earned runs on eight hits in 1.2 innings.  Wagner pitched 2.1 innings and held California (PA) to two runs on four hits.
 
With the sweep, the Vulcans improved to 13-5 overall and 7-1 in the PSAC West.
 
Pitt-Johnstown is scheduled to travel to Indiana University (PA) for a PSAC doubleheader on Friday, before hosting a conference doubleheader against Mercyhurst on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Iron Horse Complex in Windber.Â
