The Pitt-Johnstown softball team bounced back from a 9-4 loss in Saturday's PSAC Western Division opener at Clarion with a 7-2 victory in the nightcap.Â
Shannon Wittig and
Karlie Tomich each had two hits and an RBI for Pitt-Johnstown, now 4-16 overall and 4-8 in conference-play.
In game one, Clarion broke open a one-run game with five runs over the final three innings to secure the 9-4 win.
Montana Mang had two hits and drive in a run for Pitt-Johnstown, while
Marley Elbin double and had a pair of RBI. Tomich also had a hit and and RBI for Pitt-Johnstown.
Melissa Wagner fell to 1-9 after giving up eight earned runs on 10 Clarion hits over the first five innings in the circle.
In game two, scored four runs in the sixth inning to break a tie game on its way to securing the split with a 7-2 victory.
Wittig and Tomich each had two hits and an RBI, while
Amanda O'Toole and
Rachel Hoffman drove in a run apiece for Pitt-Johnstown.
Hoffman also got the job done in the circle. Hoffman held the Golden Eagles to just two runs on three hits in a complete-game effort to improve to 3-6.
