Seton Hill scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn a 3-1 victory over Pitt-Johnstown in Saturday's PSAC West softball opener at Richland Elementary School, before completing the sweep with a 10-1 win in five innings in the nightcap. The Mountain Cats fell to 5-23 overall and 5-15 in conference-play.

In game one, the Griffins took a 1-0 first inning lead, but Pitt-Johnstown tied it in the second on
Amanda O'Toole's solo homerun over the left field fence.

The scored remained the same until the seventh inning when Seton Hill's Victoria Stock doubled home Paige Kovalchik and Erika Arriola with the eventual game-winning runs.

O'Toole homered for Pitt-Johnstown, while
Marley Elbin,
Shannon Wittig,
Taylor Hoover, and
Rachel Hoffman all collected base hits.

Melissa Wagner suffered the loss in the circle for Pitt-Johnstown after allowing three runs (2 earned ) on six Seton Hill hits in a complete-game effort.

In game two, the Griffins scored five first inning runs before the Mountain Cats got an out, then added three more in the second inning on their way to the 10-1 win.

Rachel Hoffman allowed earned five runs on six hits in the Seton Hill first inning and fell to 3-11 on the season.Â

With the sweep, Seton Hill improved to 25-8-1 overall and 17-6-1 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to Edinboro for a PSAC West doubleheader on Sunday, before hosting the Fighting Scots for a pair of games on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Richland Elementary School.Â
