Amanda O'Toole belted solo homeruns in each end of Sunday's PSAC West doubleheader at Edinboro, but the Fighting Scots came away a 5-1 and 6-3 sweep over Pitt-Johnstown. Pitt-Johnstown dropped to 5-25 overall and 5-17 in conference-play.

In Sunday's first game, Edinboro jumped on Pitt-Johnstown starter
Melissa Wagner for three first inning runs and went on to the 5-1 victory.

The Fighting Scots got their first two hitters of the game on base, before Heather Tighe drove home Kylie Mason with a base hit. Taylor Payne followed with a sacrifice fly, and Tighe later scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0 after one inning.

Edinboro extended its lead to 5-0 with single runs in each of the third and fourth innings, but Pitt-Johnstown was able to break Kalet Lenart's shutout bid on O'Toole's solo homer in the seventh, but it wasn't enough.

Along with O'Toole's homer,
Shannon Wittig,
Rachel Hoffman, and
Stephanie Seibert all singled for the Mountain Cats.

Wagner suffered the loss for Pitt-Johnstown in the circle after surrendering five runs (3 earned) on eight hits in six innings. Wagner also struck out 10 Fighting Scots and walked just one.

Lenart earned the win with after holding Pitt-Johnstown to one run on four hits in a complete-game effort.

Laura Crooks and Shelby Proctor each had three hits and an RBI for Edinboro.

In the nightcap, Tighe had an RBI groundout, and Proctor doubled home Haley Struebing in the Edinboro first inning, but O'Toole connected for her second solo homerun of the day to cut Pitt-Johnstown's deficit to 2-1 in the second.

The Mountain Cats took their first lead of the day at 3-2, with a pair of runs in the third.Â
Marley Elbin and Seibert each singled to lead off the inning and scored on
Taylor Hoover's double.

The Fighting Scots came right back to regain the lead with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Edinboro went on to add two more insurance runs in the fifth to secure the sweep with a 6-3 win.

O'Toole hit a solo homer, and Hoover singled, double, and drove in two for Pitt-Johnstown. Seibert and Elbin also had two hits apiece for Pitt-Johnstown.

Emily Moore allowed six runs (3 earned) on 10 Edinboro hits in 4.1 innings and suffered the loss for Pitt-Johnstown.

With the Sweep, the Fighting Scots improved to 17-10-1 overall and 9-8-1 in the PSAC West.

Pitt-Johnstown will host Edinboro for a pair of conference games on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Richland Elementary School, before traveling to Indiana (PA) on Friday and Mercyhurst on Saturday for PSAC Western Division doubleheaders.Â
