Johnstown, PA

Box Score
Christian Galindo's penalty kick goal in the 82nd minute broke a scoreless tie and lifted Ohio Valley (WV) University to a 1-0 victory over the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team in Thursday's season-opener at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.

Jeremiah Yondah opened up the first half with one of multiple scoring opportunities for the Fighting Scotts in the 16th minute of play, none of which could get past Pitt-Johnstown goal keeper Nate Kleya.

However, after a battle in the second half between both teams, Galindo drove the game-winning penalty shot past Kleya in the 82nd minute to give Ohio Valley a 1-0 victory over the Mountain Cats.

Kleya suffered the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after seeing 23 shots and making seven saves. Carlton Rubio earned the shutout win in net for the Fighting Scots after having to make just one save.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to non-conference matches at Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College on Saturday and Daemen (NY) College on Monday.  Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home match on September 19 against Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University at 1 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
