Box Score Cambria Wierman collected a match-high 10 kills, and
Marissa Erminio added nine kills to lead the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-18, 25-23 season-opening sweep in Friday's first round of the 2015 IUP Asics Crimson Hawk Invitational.

Pitt-Johnstown ran out to a 13-4 lead on a pair of Lake Erie attack errors and a Wierman kill in the opening set and cruised to the 25-13 victory. Back-to-back kills from Erminio increased it to 21-7, before
Madeline George closed out the set with a kill off of
Jessica Dillon's set.

In set two, the Storm took an early 6-4 advantage, but the Lady Cats double-up Lake Erie 14-7 over the next 21 point to take the lead, 18-13, on a Storm service error. After Lake Erie knotted it at 18, Pitt-Johnstown scored the final seven points, including three kills and a block from Wierman, to go in front 2-0 with the 25-18 win.

Lake Erie came out in the third set and used five Madison Russell kills to build a 12-7 lead, but Pitt-Johnstown clawed back to finally tie it at 21 on Russell's attack error. Another attack error by Lake Erie gave the Lady Cats their first lead of the set at 23-22, and Pitt-Johnstown was able to close out the sweep with a 25-23 win on Erminio's kill.

Along with Wierman and Erminio, Pitt-Johnstown got seven kills, 13 set assists, and five digs from
Allison Mondorff and six kills and five service aces from
Kendall Mahony in the victory. Dillon finished with a match-high 18 assists, and Devon Orr collected a match-best 17 digs for the Lady Cats.

Crystal Kedroske and Russell each had nine kills to lead the way for Lake Erie, which slipped to 0-1.

The Lady Cats close out the Crimson Hawk Invitational on Saturday with matches against Walsh (OH) University and Notre Dame (OH) College. Pitt-Johnstown will then travel to the University of Findlay (OH) Tournament next weekend, before making their 2015 home debut against West Liberty (WV) University on September 15 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.Â
