Cambria Wierman collected a match high 13 kills, while
Marissa Erminio had 10 kills to guide the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 31-29, 25-21, 25-14 sweep over Walsh (OH) University to start Saturday's action at the 2015 IUP Asics Crimson Hawk Invitational. Pitt-Johnstown is now 2-0.

In a tight first set, Pitt-Johnstown was able to open a slim 16-13 lead on a Walsh attack error, but the Cavaliers clawed back to regain the lead 20-19. It see-sawed back-and-forth until the Lady Cats were able take advantage of three straight Walsh errors to seal the win. Pitt-Johnstown tied it at 29 on an attack error, before two more attack errors by the Cavaliers gave the Lady Cats a 31-29 victory.

In set two, Pitt-Johnstown erased a four-point deficit to go in front 11-10 on an Erminio kill and another error by Walsh. After Wierman's kill increased it to 21-18, the Lady Cats got a kills from
Madeline George and Erminio to claim the set, 25-21.

It was all Pitt-Johnstown in the third and final set.Â
Kendall Mahony and Wierman combined for seven kills to help Pitt-Johnstown race out to an 11-3 advantage. Walsh was able to cut it to 14-10 on a Katy Frease kill, but the Lady Cats closed out the set with an 11-4 run to secure the 25-14 win.

Along with her 13 kills, Wierman also had 15 digs. Mahony had 10 kills and four blocks, and George with eight kills for Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Allison Mondorff (24 assts.) and
Jessica Dillon (18 assts.) combined for 42 set assists. Dillon also had 13 digs, while
Devan Orr finished with a team-best 22 digs for the Lady Cats.

Gina Cramer had 10 kills, and Kelsey Snider chipped-in nine kills and 12 digs for the Cavaliers, who slipped to 1-2 on the season.

The Lady Cats close out the Crimson Hawk Invitational on Saturday with a match against Notre Dame (OH) College. Pitt-Johnstown will then travel to the University of Findlay (OH) Tournament next weekend, before making their 2015 home debut against West Liberty (WV) University on September 15 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.Â
