Men's Soccer Suffers 6-0 PSAC Loss at Mercyhurst

3761Mercyhurst built a 4-0 halftime lead and used six different goal-scorers in a 6-0 PSAC victory over the Mountain Cat soccer team, Saturday afternoon in Erie.  Pitt-Johnstown fell to 1-7-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the conference.
 
Goals by Michael Dirienzo and Jorge Gonzalez in the third and sixth minutes put the Lakers in front, 2-0, before Jorge Fiztmaurice and Jesse Albers found the back of the net in the 20th and 44th minute to make it 4-0 at the half.
 
Mercyhurst went on to add two more goals in the second half to coast to the 6-0 win.
 
Nate Kleya faced 25 shots from the Lakers and made 13 saves, but allowed all six goals.  Martin Jarc saw just three Pitt-Johnstown shots and made a pair of saves to help Mercyhurst improve to 6-3-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the PSAC.
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to non-conference matches at Shepherd (WV) on Tuesday and Washington Adventist (MD) on Wednesday.  The Mountain Cats will play their next home match on October 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
