California University (PA) broke open a one-goal halftime lead with five goals in a second half to defeat the Mountain Cat soccer team, 6-1, Wednesday night in California.  Erik Etter netted the lone goal for Pitt-Johnstown, which fell to 4-10-0 overall and 1-8-0 in the PSAC.
 
The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute after Cooper Amos finished Nick Cichon's through ball from midfield.
 
California (PA) held that lead until Cichon scored back-to-back goals in the 51^st and 63^rd minutes to increase the Vulcans' lead to 3-0.
 
The Mountain Cats narrowed it to 3-1 38 seconds later on Etter's goal off a cross from Colin Michalski, but California (PA) tacked on three more insurance goals to set the final at 6-1.
 
Nate Kleya suffered the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after allowing six goals on 19 Vulcan shots.  Kleya also made six saves.
 
Lucas Exner earned the win for California (PA), which improved to 8-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the PSAC.  Exner faced nine Mountain Cats shots, allowed one goal and made three saves.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC match against Gannon on Saturday at 1 p.m. and a non-conference match against Roberts Wesleyan (NY) on Wednesday.  Both matches will be played at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
