Top-seeded and defending National Champion Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University finished strong in all three sets in a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 sweep over Pitt-Johnstown in Saturday's Semifinals of the 2016 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Volleyball Tournament in Wheeling, W.Va.Â
Maura Brehl had 10 kills for the Lady Cats, who season came to an end with a 25-10 overall record.

Wheeling Jesuit took advantage of five early Pitt-Johnstown attack errors and a kill from Emma Schleucher to open-up an 11-5 lead in the first set. After Kayce Krucki's kill increased it to 16-9,
Maura Brehl accounted for three of Pitt-Johnstown's next four points to cut it to four at 17-13. However, the Cardinals closed out the 25-15 win with an 8-2 run, capped by a pair of kills from Krucki and a Lady Cat error.

In the second set, Wheeling Jesuit ran out to a 6-1 lead on Schleucher's kill and a Pitt-Johnstown error. The Lady Cats got kills from
Marissa Erminio and Brehl and a block from
Anna Johns to make it 8-6, but the Cardinals scored six of the next seven to extend the lead to 14-7 on Breanna Kramer's service ace. Three kills from
Cambria Wierman and one from
Kendall Mahony got Pitt-Johnstown to within two at 16-14. Wheeling Jesuit answered again. This time, the Cardinals outscored Pitt-Johnstown 9-3 to take a 2-sets-to-none lead with a 25-17 victory on back-to-back kills by Kramer.

With their backs against the wall, Pitt-Johnstown got two kills from Wierman and a Wheeling Jesuit to climb out to a 12-8 third set lead. The Cardinals battled back to tie it at 15 the take the lead 16-15 on Schleucher's ace. Krucki's kill pushed Wheeling Jesuit's lead to 21-18 and completed the sweep with a kill from Haley Kindall.

Brehl's 10 kills, four blocks, and seven digs led Pitt-Johnstown. Wierman had nine kills and six digs, and Erminio added eight kills and two blocks. The Lady Cats also got four kills and a block from Mahony, and three kills and two blocks from Johns.

The Cardinals, who improved to 40-2 and advance to Sunday's Regional Final to take on Edinboro, got a match-high 13 kills, two blocks, and six digs from Krucki and 12 kills and 14 digs from Kramer.
