Mercy Defeats Softball, 4-1, to Conclude Spring Trip

2791Mercy (NY) College opened-up a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning and went on to a 4-1 victory over Pitt-Johnstown to conclude its Spring Trip in Clermont, Fla. on Saturday.  Pitt-Johnstown is now 1-8 to start the year.
 
Pitt-Johnstown trailed 4-0 in the sixth, before getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth.  Morgan Cannin and Ashley Shor both singled to lead off the inning.  Cannin eventually scored on Montana Mang's sacrifice fly, but that was as close as Pitt-Johnstown could get.
 
Melissa Wagner pitched a complete-game for Pitt-Johnstown but suffered the loss after giving up all four runs on six Mercy hits.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will host a non-conference doubleheader against Seton Hill University on Saturday, before traveling to Wilmington (DE) University on March 22.
