Morgan Cannin lead off Pitt-Johnstown's first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Wilmington (DE) University with an inside the park homerun, but the Wildcats came back to defeat the Lady Cat softball team, 5-1. Wilmington completed the sweep with a 10-0 victory in game two, dropping Pitt-Johnstown to 3-10 on the season.

In game one, Wilmington broke open a one-run game with three runs in the fourth inning to deal Pitt-Johnstown the 5-1 loss.

Cannin's lead-off inside-the-park homer down the left field line in the top of the first put Pitt-Johnstown in front, but Wilmington answered with single runs in its half of the first and second inning.

The Wildcats increased their lead to 5-1 in the fourth Jazmeen Llamas RBI single and a two-run single from Cambria Ziemba.

Cannin had the inside-the-park homer, while
Marley Elbin,
Montana Mang, and
Ashley Shor all had base hits for Pitt-Johnstown.

Melissa Wagner took the loss in the circle for Pitt-Johnstown after giving up five earned runs on 11 hits in six innings. Wagner also fanned five and walked one.

Becca Stanley went 3-for-4 to lead Wilmington, and Taylor Rizzotte, Llamas, and Ziemba all had two hits.

Shannon Brantley pitched a complete-game to earn the win for the Wildcats after striking out six and holding Pitt-Johnstown to one run on four hits.

In the nightcap, Wilmington used an eight-run second inning off of Pitt-Johnstown starter
Emily Moore to build a 10-0 advantage, before coasting to the 10-0, five-inning win.

Shor had two hits in two at-bats, and Mang accounted for the other Pitt-Johnstown hit.

Moore was in the circle for the first four innings for the Lady Cats and surrendered 10 runs on 11 Wilmington hits to fall to 2-3 on the season.

Kaitlyn Slater homered, doubled, and drove in four the lead Wilmington, while Caitlyn Whiteside held Pitt-Johnstown scoreless on just three hits to earn the win.

With the sweep, the Wildcats improved to 8-12 on the season.

Pitt-Johnstown will open PSAC Central Division play with home doubleheaders against Mansfield University on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Clarion University on Saturday a 1 p.m.Â
