Softball Drops Season Opener in Florida to Salem International

3407Salem International (WV) University built a 4-0 advantage in the sixth inning and held off Pitt-Johnstown, 4-3, in Head Coach Niki Cognini's Pitt-Johnstown debut, Sunday evening in Clermont, Fla.
 
After falling behind 4-0, Pitt-Johnstown battled back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth on RBI singles from Taylor Hoover, Amanda O'Toole, and Kelsey Feeney, but that was as close at it would get.
 
Melissa Wagner took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in a complete-game effort.  Wagner also struck out 10.
