Taylor Hoover connected for a solo homerun for Pitt-Johnstown, but Lock Haven used five homers to sweep the Pitt-Johnstown softball team, 9-0 in six innings and 7-1 in PSAC Central play, Friday afternoon at Richland Elementary School. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 8-19 overall 5-9 in conference-play.

In the opener, the Bald Eagles hit three homeruns, and Bekah Slattery tossed a two-hit shutout to lead Lock Haven to the 9-1 win.

Michelle Holweger's two-run homer to right center gave the bald Eagles a 2-0 first inning lead, before Jodi Weaknect's two-run triple in the second increased it 4-0.

Lock Haven got solo homeruns from Rachel Mouillesseaux in the third and Gabrielle Henson in the fifth, before adding three more in the sixth.

Marley Elbin went 2-for-3 with a triple to account for Pitt-Johnstown's two hits.

Emily Moore fell to 4-6 on the season after giving up nine runs (7 earned) on 13 Lock Haven hits.

Weaknecht had three hits, including a triple and two RBI to pace the Bald Eagles, while Slattery improved to 14-4 after the two-hit, complete-game shutout.

In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Hoover's solo homer to right center, but Lock Haven answered with five runs, including a three-run blast from McKenna Garlock and a solo homer from Michelle Holweger to complete the sweep with the 7-1 victory.

Along with her homerun, Mouillesseaux also got the job done on the mound for Lock Haven. Mouillessouix held Pitt-Johnstown to just one run on two hits in the complete-game.

Melissa Wagner suffered the loss and dropped to 4-13 after surrendering seven earned runs on 13 hits.

With the sweep, Lock Haven improved 26-12 overall and 9-5 in the PSAC Central Division.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to Clarion for a PSAC Central doubleheader on Saturday, before closing out the 2016 regular season with conference doubleheaders against Indiana (PA) on Friday at V.E. Erickson Field on Friday and Bloomsburg on Saturday at Richland Elementary School.Â
