After taking the opener of a PSAC Central softball doubleheader 5-1 at V.E. Erickson Field, Indiana (PA) completed the sweep over Pitt-Johnstown by scoring a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to secure a 2-0 win.Â
Taylor Hoover hit a solo homerun for Pitt-Johnstown, now 10-21 overall and 7-11 in the PSAC Central.

In game one, Amy Fairman's two-out single to center in the IUP half of the third scored Lauren Goetz to give the Crimson Hawks a 1-0 lead.

Pitt-Johnstown quickly tied it in the bottom of the frame on
Taylor Hoover's solo homerun to center, but IUP answered with three in the top of the sixth to regain the lead. Allie Viguers belted a lead-off solo homer, and Rachel Francis and Mackenna Miller each had RBI singles to put the Crimson Hawks up 4-1.

Fairman added a solo homerun to left-center in the seventh to set the final at 5-1.

IUP starter Lauren Zola held Pitt-Johnstown to just one run on two hits, a first-inning infield single by
Montana Mang, and Hoover's solo homerun in the fourth.

Fairman went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to pace IUP.

Melissa Wagner pitched a complete-game but suffered the loss after surrendering five runs on 10 hits.
In game two, IUP broke a scoreless game with a pair of runs in the eighth inning to complete the sweep.
After neither team was able to push across a run through the first seven innings, Goetz drew a one-out walk in the top of the eighth. Megan Gould reached on an error, and Bryanna Lonick singled to load the bases. Emily Hofman then reached on a fielder's choice that drove home Goetz, and Gould scored on a throwing error.

McKenna Kern had two hits for Pitt-Johnstown, while
Morgan Cannin,
Amber Maurer,
Marley Elbin, and
Montana Mang also had base hits.

Wagner took her second loss of the day after allowing two runs (1 earned) on nine hits.

Pitt-Johnstown will close out the 2016 regular season with a PSAC Central doubleheader against Bloomsburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Richland Elementary School.
