Maura Brehl had seven kills and
Sydney Sumner added six kills to lead a group of six Lady Cats who had three or more kills to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-18 sweep over Ohio Valley (WV) University in Friday's Second Round of the 2016 Notre Dame (OH)/Ursuline Tournament in South Euclid, OH. Pitt-Johnstown raised its record to 5-4.

The Lady Cats broke open a close opening set with a 13-6 run. Six straight points, capped by an
Anna Johns kill, put Pitt-Johnstown up 18-12, before the Fighting Scots narrowed it 18-16 on a kill from Kasey Williams. However, the Lady Cats scored the final seven points, including four services aces from
Allison Mondorff, to take the set, 25-16.

Pitt-Johnstown jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set on
Kendall Mahony's kill and an Ohio Valley attack error. Anee' Braswell's kill got the Fighting Scots to within three at 12-9, but Pitt-Johnstown countered with an 8-3 run to build the lead to 20-12 on
Jessica Dillon's service ace. The Lady Cats then closed out the 25-19 win with kills from Johns, Sumner, and
Noelle Carota.

The Lady Cats fell behind 3-1 to begin the final set, but outscored Ohio Valley, 10-4, to go in front 16-10 on Brehl's kill and Fighting Scots' attack error. Kills from Sumner and
Tatiana Pitcher extended it to 23-14, before Caitin Vrabel's kill completed the sweep.

Along with her seven kills, Brehl added a block solo and two block assists, and Sumner had two block assists to go along with her six kills.Â
Marissa Erminio and Mahony each had four kills, while had three kills and four block assists, and Carota had three kills in the victory.

Mondorff led the way with 15 set assists, five aces, and five digs, and Dillon had seven assists.Â
Devan Orr chipped in five digs and a pair of aces.

Ohio Valley got a match-high 18 kills from Alyx Henry and six kills from Kayla Stewart.

With the loss, the Fighting Scots dropped to 2-8 on the year.

The Lady Cats close out the 2016 Notre Dame/Ursuline Tournament against Notre Dame (OH) College on Saturday at 2 p.m., before starting conference-play at Slippery Rock on Sept. 23 and at Edinboro on Sept. 24. Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2016 home debut with Homecoming Weekend conference matches against Mercyhurst on September 30 at 7 p.m. and Gannon on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
