Kendall Mahony had 15 kills and three blocks to lead three Pitt-Johnstown players who finished in double figures in kills in a 3-sets-to-1 season-opening over Henderson State (Ark.) University at Friday's first round of the
Courtyard by Marriott Classic in Tampa., Fla.

Pitt-Johnstown defeated the Reddies 25-17, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-17.

Leading 15-13 in set one, Pitt-Johnstown outscored Henderson State 10-4 to pull away. Back-to-back kills from
Kendall Mahony increased the Lady Cat lead to 22-15, before a kill by
Marissa Erminio and another kill from Mahony closed out the 25-17 win.

Henderson State jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the second set, but Pitt-Johnstown stormed back to tie it on
Cambria Wierman's kill, before going in front 13-10 on consecutive attack errors by the Reddies and
Devan Orr's service ace. After Courtney Bolf's kill got Henderson State back to within one at 18-17, the Lady Cats regained control and went on the 25-19 victory.

The Reddies stayed alive and avoided the sweep with a 25-20 win in the third set. Henderson State got a kill from Sharon Tukuaoga that capped 7-2 run over the final 10 points and forced a fourth set.

Henderson State maintained the momentum to start the fourth set and opened-up a 6-1 lead on Sariah Boney's service ace. Pitt-Johnstown scored the next five to tie it on a
Maura Brehl kill and a Reddies' attack error, before Wierman's kill eventually gave the lead to the Lady Cats at 13-12. Pitt-Johnstown dominated the rest of the way and finished 25-17 victory with 13-3 run.

Along with Mahony's match-high 15 kills, Erminio had 14 kills to set a new career school record, and Wierman collected 10 kills to pace Pitt-Johnstown. The Lady Cats also got eight kills and 10 blocks from freshman
Anna Johns, and six kills and 10 blocks from Brehl.

In addition,
Allison Mondorff finished with 28 kills to break the school's career assist record. Mondorff also had 17 digs, while
Jessica Dillon had 23 assists and five digs. Orr tallied a match-high 34 digs, and
Delaney Roman had four service aces in the win.

Kamra Jackson had 13 kills, and Bolf and Tukuaoga finished with 12 and 11 kills, respectively to lead Henderson State, which dropped to 0-1.
