
The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team made it a weekend PSAC sweep. After taking down East Stroudsburg University on Friday,
Marissa Erminio had a match-high 10 kills and nine digs, and
Kendall Mahony tallied nine kills and three blocks in a 25-14, 25-19, 25-21 sweep at Kutztown University on Saturday. The Mountain Cats improved to 17-5 overall and 7-2 in the PSAC Central Division.
It was all Pitt-Johnstown in the first set. The Mountain Cats raced out to an 11-3 lead on
Caitlin Vrabel's kill and a Kutztown attack error and never looked back. The Golden Bears got a kill from Holly Owen to cut it to six, but Pitt-Johnstown pushed its lead into double digits on
Noelle Carota's kill and an
Allison Mondorff service ace, before ending the 25-14 win with a Erminio's kill.
Kutztown kept it close in the second set and climbed out to a 10-7 lead on Brittany Moyer's service and a Pitt-Johnstown attack error. The Golden Bears then extended their lead to four, but the Mountain Cats stormed back with a 15-5 run to close out the 25-19 win. Pitt-Johnstown regained the lead at 16-15 on
J.C. Longeville's ace and never trailed again. Vrabel and Carota combined for a block to push it to set point, and Vrabel followed with a kill to finish it up.
The Mountain Cats never trailed in the final set and jumped out to an 8-2 advantage with another block, but the Golden Bears got the deficit down to two on Moyer and Niki Carpenter's block.
Cambria Wierman's kill extended Pitt-Johnstown's lead to five at 18-13 and completed the sweep with the 25-21 victory with a block from
Maura Brehl and two straight from Mahony.

Along with Erminio and Mahony, Pitt-Johnstown also got eight kills and 12 digs from Wierman and eight kills and two blocks from Brehl. Carota finished with five kills and a pair of blocks.
Mondorff's 20 set assists led the way for the Mountain Cats, while Longeville added 17 assists, seven digs, and two aces.
Devan Orr chipped-n a match-high 16 digs, four assists, and an ace.
Kutztown, which dropped to 6-15 overall and 1-8 in the PSAC Southeastern Division, was led by Moyer's eight kills, six digs, and three aces, and Jessica Howe's seven kills.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC matches at at Shippensburg and Millersville next weekend, before returning home to host conference matches against California (PA) on October 27 and Seton Hill on October 28.
