Pitt-Johnstown scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to erase a one-run deficit and defeat Ferris State (MI) University, 6-3, Friday afternoon in Clermont, Fla. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 4-3.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first,
Amanda O'Toole singled home
Morgan Cannin in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit in half.

Pitt-Johnstown then took advantage of five Ferris State errors and broke it open with five runs in the fourth inning to build a 6-2 advantage. Â

Allison Rizzo,
Amber Maurer, and Cannin all scored in the inning.

Sam Frey gave up two first inning runs, but settled down and held Ferris State to just one run, a solo home run in the seventh, to earn her first win of the year. Frey allowed three runs on nine hits, and fanned one.

McKenna Kern, O'Toole, and Cannin accounted for the three Pitt-Johnstown hits.

With the loss, Ferris State dropped to 5-10 on the season.

Pitt-Johnstown will wrap-up its Spring Trip in Clermont, Fla. with games against Quincy (IL) and Northern State (SD) on Saturday, before traveling to Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday. Pitt-Johnstown will then make its 2017 home debut with a non-conference doubleheader against Shippensburg on Saturday, March 18 at the V.E. Erickson complex.
