Taylor Hoover had four hits and two RBI to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a 7-3 win to open Sunday's PSAC doubleheader at Clarion, but the Golden Eagles came back with a 2-0 victory in game two to secure a split. Pitt-Johnstown is now 10-10 overall and 2-4 in the PSAC Central Division.

In game one, Pitt-Johnstown used six first-inning hits to race out to a 4-0 lead. Hoover's RBI single plated
Marley Elbin with the game's first run, and
Amanda O'Toole followed two batters later with a two-run double. Pitt-Johnstown then made it 4-0 on
McKenna Kern's RBI single.

Clarion came back with a pair of runs in bottom of the second on an RBI double from Kira Smith and a run-scoring single from Cassidy Runyan.

However, Pitt-Johnstown answered with three more runs in fourth. Hoover and Kern each drove in runs with singles, and
Ashley Shor was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to push the led to 7-2.

The Golden Eagles got another run back in the fifth, but
Melissa Wagner didn't allow it to get any closer. Wagner tossed a complete-game and held Clarion to three runs on eight hits. Wagner also struck out eight and walked two.

Hoover finished 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs. O'Toole had two hits, including a double, and two RBI, while Kern had two hits and drove in a pair for Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Montana Mang and Elbin also had two hits apiece in Pitt-Johnstown's 13-hit attack.

In game two, Clarion scored a run in each of the first two innings off of Pitt-Johnstown starter
Emily Moore and went on to the 2-0 win.

O'Toole doubled, while
Morgan Cannin,
Amber Maurer, Elbin, and Kern also had base hits for Pitt-Johnstown.

Moore, who slipped to 2-5 on the season, pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs.

With the split, Clarion is now 4-28 overall and 1-7 in the PSAC Central Division.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to a PSAC doubleheader at Indiana (PA) on Monday, before playing non-conference doubleheaders at Seton Hill on Tuesday and at Salem International (WV) on Wednesday.
