Noelle Carota all had nine kills, as Pitt-Johnstown bounced back from a tough loss Friday night with a 25-17, 25-19, 24-14 sweep over the University of Charleston (WV) in Saturday's third Round of the West Liberty/Wheeling Jesuit Crossover Tournament in Wheeling, W.Va. With the sweep, the Mountain Cats improved to 10-2.
Pitt-Johnstown also got five kills, a service ace and a pair of blocks from
Kendall Mahony, three kills and five blocks from
Caitlin Vrabel, and three kills, two aces, and 12 digs from
Cambria Wierman. Carota added three blocks to go along with her nine kills.
J.C. Longeville finished with a match-high 19 set assists and five digs, while
Allison Mondorff tallied 10 assists and eight digs.
Devan Orr's 14 digs tied for match-high with Charleston's Chloe Massaro.
The Golden Eagles, who dropped to 3-8 on the year, were led by Carly Granger's six kills and 12 digs, and Janeese Vervelde's six kills and one block.
