
Just like in Friday's opening match of the Walsh University Cavalier Classic in North Canton, OH., the Pitt-Johnstown women's volleyball team came away with a sweep. This time, the Mountain Cats got nine kills and a block from
Maura Brehl to improve to 6-1 on the year with a three-set sweep over Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College.
After rolling to a 25-11 win in the first set, Pitt-Johnstown held off the Redhawks, 25-21, before completing the sweep with a 25-17 victory in the third set.
Along with Brehl,
Marissa Erminio had six kills and seven digs, while
Noelle Carota had six kills and three block assists, and
Cambria Wierman tallied six kills and a pair of block assists. The Mountain Cats also got ffour kills, three blocks, and a service ace from
Kendall Mahony in the sweep.
Allison Mondorff (15 assists) and
J.C. Longeville (12 assists) combined for 27 set assists, and
Devan Orr chipped-in a match-high 11 digs.
Roberts Wesleyan, which fell to 0-7 on the season, was led by Courtney Taylor's nine kills, three digs, and two service aces.
Pitt-Johnstown wraps-up the Cavalier Classic on Saturday against Fort Hays State (KS) University at 9 a.m. and Walsh at 3 p.m., before traveling to Wheeling, W.Va. for the Wheeling Jesuit University/West Liberty University Tournament next weekend.
