
Pitt-Johnstown recognized
Maura Brehl, this year's lone senior, then Brehl went out and collected a match-high 18 kills to help the Mountain Cats to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 PSAC sweep over Slippery Rock, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown is now 16-11 overall and 10-5 in the PSAC Central Division.
Grace Miller's kill gave Pitt-Johnstown a 16-10 advantage in the first set, before The Rock narrowed it to 18-14 on a Shayla Ray kill. Slippery Rock never got any closer and the Mountain Cats took the set, 25-20, on a pair of kills from
Noelle Carota.
In the second set, Slippery Rock held a slim one point lead, but Pitt-Johnstown followed with a 13-1 run, capped by kills from
Anna Johns and Brehl, to double-up The Rock 22-11. Slippery Rock tried to get back in it, but two more kills from Johns and an attack error gave the Mountain Cats a 25-17 victory.
Pitt-Johnstown completed the sweep with a 25-19 win in the final set.
Caitlin Vrabel's Brehl's kill increased the lead to four, before Johns' 13
th kill of the match closed it out.

Brehl finished with 18 kills, four blocks, and 10 digs, and Johns tallied 13 kills and a pair of blocks for Pitt-Johnstown. Carota had nine kills and seven digs, and Vrabel had four kills and a match-high five blocks.
J.C. Longeville's match-high 41 set assists and six digs, paced the Mountain Cats, while
Erin Carmody had a match-high 18 digs, and
Hailey Mackenthun had nine digs.
Beth Stumpf's nine kills and Kaley Fucci's seven kills led the way for Slippery Rock, which fell to 9-15 overall and 6-9 in the PSAC Northwest Division.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC Match against Shippensburg on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before closing out the regular season with conference matches at Bloomsburg on Friday and Lock Haven on Saturday.
