The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats softball team dropped game one of their double header against Merrimack (MA) College, 3-0 Saturday morning in Clermont, Fla. The Mountain Cats fell to 2-7 on the season and Merrimack improved to 9-1.

Merrimack broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Hannah Johnson singled to left field to score Nicole Nanof. Merrimack added two runs in the fifth inning, Nanof singled to center field scoring Breanna Dupuis. Kristina Terrazzano came around to score on a wild pitch.

The Mountain Cats lone hit came in the bottom of the fourth inning when
Olivia Porter beat out an infield single.

Megan Cook took the complete game shut-out win for Merrimack College. She finished the day giving up just one hit, walking one and striking out four.

Melissa Wagner took the loss in the circle for the Mountain Cats. Wagner through a complete game giving up two earned runs on nine hits, while striking out two.

The Mountain Cats conclude their spring-break trip Saturday afternoon when they take on Hillsdale (MI) College, before traveling to Gannon University March 17.
