Urbana University tied it with a run in the bottom of the seventh, before adding another run in the eighth to slip past Pitt-Johnstown, 6-5, in Sunday's 2018 softball season-opener in Clermont, Fla.
Olivia Porter had three hits, and Taylor collected a pair of double and two RBI to lead Pitt-Johnstown.
The Cats erased a two-run deficit with three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.
Morgan Cannin and Porter each singled and scored to knot it at four on Hoover's second double of the day. Pitt-Johnstown then regained the lead on
Ali Belgiovane's RBI single that plated Hoover.
Urbana came right back with an unearned run off of Pitt-Johnstown reliever
Emily Moore in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. After the Cats were held off the scoreboard in its half of the eighth, by rule, Urbana's Mykee Holtz was placed on second base and came around to score the walk-off, game-winner on Bailee Faulkner's double to left field.
Porter finished her first collegiate game going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Hoover had two doubles and drove in three for Pitt-Johnstown. The Cats also got two hits and two runs from Morgan

Cannin and a hit and an RBI from Belgiovane.
Moore took the loss after surrendering unearned runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Melissa Wagner started and pitched the first 4 1/3 innings. Wagner gave up four runs on seven hits. She also struck out two and walked one.
With the win, Urbana improved to 2-5 to start the season.
