
The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats softball team swept a double header at Clarion (Pa.) University Tuesday afternoon, 3-1 and 9-4. The Mountain Cats improved to 7-9 overall and 3-1 in conference. Clarion Fell to 4-18 overall and 1-5 in conference.

GAME ONE:

The Mountain Cats got on the board in the top of the third inning when
Olivia Porter reached on a fielder's choice that scored
Ali Belgiovane. They added one more when
Taylor Hoover hit a sacrifice fly to left-center field to score Porter.

Clarion got their only run when Jessica Cartia hit a solo homerun to center field in the fifth inning. Pitt-Johnstown answered in the next frame when
Stacey Walling hit a homerun to left field to make it, 3-1.

Mellisa Wagner got the complete-game win for the Mountain Cats. She finished giving up one-earned run on seven hits and striking out four.

Sarah Gossard took the loss for Clarion (Pa.). Gosser tossed a complete game, giving up three
runs, one earned on seven hits and striking out four.

Offensively the Mountain Cats were led by Walling who finished 2-for-3 with a home run and
one RBI.

GAME TWO:

The Mountain Cats got on the board first again in game two.
Ashley Shor reached on an error that allowed
Kristie Radvan to score, before
Morgan Cannin singled to left field to make it 2-0.

Carita got the Golden Eagles on the board in the third inning when she hit a home run to center
field.

Marley Elbin smacked a triple down the right-field line to score Cannin to make it, 3-1.

Clarion took the lead in the fifth inning when Natalie Else hit a bases-clearing double to make it, 4-3.

The Mountain Cats jumped back on top in the sixth inning when Cannin singled up the middle to make it, 6-4.
Â
Pitt-Johnstown made it 9-4 thanks to a Walling double to center field and a Radvan single to center field.

Ashley Pagliei earned the win in relief pitching four innings, giving up three earned runs on two hits and striking out three.
Macy Rubin took the loss for the Clarion (Pa.) Golden Eagles. Rubin pitched six innings giving up nine runs, three earned on twelve hits and striking out one.

The Mountain Cats are back in action Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. when they take on Lock Haven University at V.E Erickson Complex.
