
The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats baseball team swept the Gannon University Golden Knights, 7-3 and 2-1 Saturday afternnon in Erie. The Mountian Cats improved to 8-19 overall and 5-9 in the PSAC West. Gannon fell to 18-12 and 8-6 in the PSAC West.

GAME ONE:
The Mountian Cats got off to a hot start in the fourth when they opened up a 4-0 lead thanks to
Jack Shirk reaching on a throwing error,
Scott Thompson hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Jack
Nemo Trexler reached on a fielder choice.

The Mountain Cats added two more runs in the second inning when Shirk and Thompson hit back to back doubles.

Gannon added two in the second inning when Jared Beach doubled to right-center field. They added their third run when Elijah Quiceno grounded into a double play scoring Matt Oruch.

The Moutain Cats got their seventh run when
Dan Clark hit a solo homerun to right field in the sixth inning.

Brady Walker got the win for the Mountain Cats. Walker gave up three earned runs on seven hits and striking out four over six innings of work.

Gannon University's Jarod Morrison took the loss pitching two innings, giving up six runs on seven hits and striking out zero.

GAME TWO

The Mountain Cats got their only two runs when
Tanner Cook singled to left field scoring
Ty Treese and
Ben Foose.

Gannon added one in the sixth inning when Quiceno hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Cardy.

Offensively the Mountain Cats were led by
Nemo Trexler who went 2-for-4 and
Tanner Cook who went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Trent Martin earned the win on the mound for the Mountain Cats. Martin pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up zero runs on two hits and struck out two.

David Cricks took the loss for Gannon University. Cricks went five innings, giving up two-earned runs on seven hits and striking out three.
