Johnstown, PA

5889Pitt-Johnstown celebrated Senior Night, then walked off with a pair of PSAC Central Division victories over Indiana (PA), Saturday night at V.E. Erickson Complex.  Morgan Cannin's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh in the opener gave the Mountain Cats a 2-1 win, before Jade Stubblefield scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning to propel Pitt-Johnstown to an 8-7 win in the nightcap.

Pitt-Johnstown closed out the 2018 season at 13-23 overall and 8-12 in the PSAC Central.

Prior to the doubleheader, Pitt-Johnstown and Head Coach Niki Cognigni recognized seven seniors: Marley Elbin, Taylor Hoover, McKenna Kern, Montana Mang, Emily Moore, Amanda O'Toole, and Melissa Wagner.

GAME ONE
Indiana (Pa.) got on the board in the top of the third inning on Brooklyn Kotula's solo home run to left field.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh.  Kern's lead-off homer to center field knotted it at one.  Stubblefield walked, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, then to third on an Ashley Shor ground out.  Cannin followed with a single down the left-field line that plated Stubblefield with the game-winner.

Wagner got the complete-game win for Pitt-Johnstown.  Wagner gave up one-earned run on six hits, while striking out five.

Lauren Zola took the complete-game loss for the Crimson Hawks. She allowed two-earned runs on three hits and struck out three.

GAME TWO
Indiana (Pa.) opened the scoring in the top of the first inning on Katie Beers' two-run home run to center field, before Alaina Laverick's solo homer in the second made it 3-0.

The Crimson Hawks built the lead to 3-0 with two more runs in the third, but the Mountain Cats answered with a two-run blast from O'Toole and Cannin's bunt single that scored Bree Ginther to cut it to 5-3.

The Mountain Cats tied it at six in the fourth inning when Jade Stubblefield and O'Toole hit back-to-back home runs.

After Pitt-Johnstown and Indiana (PA) exchanged unearned runs in the seventh, Stubblefield led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. O'Toole singled to right and Stubblefield scored on a Crimson Hawks' throwing error to set the final at 8-7.

O'Toole went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while Stubblefield homered and scored three runs for the Mountain Cats.

Emily Moore pitched a complete game in her final game for Pitt-Johnstown.  Moore surrendered seven runs (6 earned) on 14 Crimson Hawks, hits.
