Maura Brehl collected a team-high 14 kills to lead three Pitt-Johnstown players who finished in double figures in kills in a 3-1 season-opening victory over Holy Family University at Saturday's Fairmont State (WV) University Tri-Match.

The Mountain Cats picked-up a 25-21 win in the opening set, but Holy Family quickly knotted it with a 25-20 win in the second. However, Pitt-Johnstown took the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-20 to close out the victory.

Along with her 14 kills, Brehl also had seven digs, a pair of service aces, and a block, while
Caitlin Vrabel had 11 kills, three blocks, and two aces, and Anna John tallied with 11 kills and four blocks.

Pitt-Johnstown also got eight kills and two blocks from
Noelle Carota.

In addition,
J.C. Longeville led the way with 22 set assists, seven digs, and three aces, and freshman
Morgan Yurkovich added 16 assists and four digs. Fellow freshman
Erin Carmody began her career with a match-high 19 digs for the Mountain Cats.

Holy Family, which slipped to 1-1 after defeating Fairmont State in its opener, was led by Chases Wassel's match-high 19 kills and Carly Covington's 14 kills and 11 digs.
