Caitlin Vrabel and
Maura Brehl each had 14 kills, while
Noelle Carota added 11 kills to lead Pitt-Johnstown to a to a five-set PSAC victory over Seton Hill University, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center. The Mountain Cats improved to 6-8 overall and evened their record at 2-2 in the PSAC Central Division.
Seton Hill scored eight straight points on Brynn Fleury's serve to build a 9-1 led. Pitt-Johnstown came back to knot it at 13 on
J.C. Longeville's kill. After Jessica Hanson's kill helped the Griffins push the lead back out to four at 23-19, but the Mountain Cats stormed back to tie at 23 on Vrabel's kill, before a Seton Hill ball handling error and an attack error gave Pitt-Johnstown a 26-24 win.
In the second set, Seton Hill opened-up a 13-7 advantage, then made it 16-9 on a Viktoria Farian kill. The Mountain Cats answered with six unanswered points, capped by Carota's kill and a Griffins' error, to narrow it to 16-15. However, Seton Hill went on to outscore Pitt-Johnstown, 9-3, the rest of the way, including consecutive kills by Jillian Livorse, propelled the Griffins to the 25-18 victory.

Pitt-Johnstown started fast in the third set and took a 12-8 lead on
Grace Miller's kill, but Seton Hill followed with a 12-4 run to regain the lead 20-18 on Farian's kill and a combined blocked from Leah Bisignani and Erin Parks. The Mountain Cats scored the next six straight points to make it 24-20, before Seton Hill fought out four straight set points to go in front 25-24 on Bisignani's kill. The teams exchanged the lead several times until Pitt-Johnstown snapped a 29-all tie with Vrabel and Brehl kills to secure the 31-29 win.
It was all Seton Hill in the fourth set. The Griffins jumped out to a 16-6 lead and got it out to as many as 13 at 23-10 on a Farian kill, before forcing a fifth set with the 25-14 win on Rachel Satira kill.
Neither team held a lead larger than two in a tight fifth set. The Mountain Cats went up an 11-9, but Seton Hill scored the next three. Pitt-Johnstown countered with three straight to make it match point at 14-12 on
Anna Johns' kill, and got a Seton Hill attack error to wrap-up the 15-12 victory.

Vrabel had 14 kills and a pair of blocks, while Brehl collected 14 kills, 22 digs, and two blocks, and Carota had 11 kills, 15 digs, and a block to lead Pitt-Johnstown. Johns finished with nine kills and five blocks, and Miller had six kills and two blocks.
The Mountain Cats also got a match-high 48 set assists and 10 digs from Longeville and 26 digs from
Erin Carmody.
Seton Hill dropped its second straight conference match and slipped to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC Southwest. Farian's match-highs of 19 kills and 30 digs, and Livorse's 16 kills and 11 digs paced the Griffins.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a non-conference match against West Liberty (WV) on Tuesday at 7 p.m., before traveling to PSAC matches at East Stroudsburg and at Kutztown next weekend.
