Vogelman’s Two Goals Not Enough in Mountain Cats’ 3-2 Loss at Washington Adventist

Takoma Park, MD

5994D.J. Vogelman scored a pair of match-tying goals for Pitt-Johnstown, but Washington Adventist (MD) University notched the match-winner 11 minutes into the second half in a 3-2 non-conference victory over the Mountain Cats, Friday afternoon in Takoma Park MD.  Pitt-Johnstown fell to 2-6.

Douglas Guevara's penalty kick goal 10 minutes into the match gave the Shock an early 1-0 lead, but Vogelman scored on a free-kick from 30 yards out in the 34th minute to tie it at one at the half.

Washington Adventist regained the lead in the 50th minute, before Vogelman answered again one minute later.  This time with a blast from the top of the box off of a John Knox assist to knot it at two.

However, the Shock's Jose Paniagua finished a deflection off of a Mountain Cat defender with the eventual match-winner in the 56th minute.

Josh Zakrzewski took the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after allowing all three goals and making 12 saves.

With the win, Washington Adventist evened its record at 3-3.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to a non-conference match at Shepherd (WV) on Sunday and to a PSAC match at Slippery Rock on Wednesday, before returning home to host a conference match against Shippensburg on Saturday, October 6 at noon.
