Tyler Oliver each won by fall to help the seventh-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers record their second straight shut to at the Kutztown University Duals. After defeating Queens (NC) to open the duals, the Mountain Cats earned a 49-0 victory over American International (Mass.) College in Friday's second round to improve to 12-2.
Brendan Howard (125 lbs.),
Matt Siszka (133 lbs.) and No. 3
Joey Alessandro (141 lbs.) all won by forfeit to give Pitt-Johnstown an 18-0 lead.
Justin Smith's 6-5 decision over JoJo Gonzalez at 149 lbs., and
Corey Falleroni's 16-1 technical fall over Ahmad Sharif at 157 lbs., increased it to 26-0.
The Mountain Cats then got an 8-6 sudden victory by
Nate Claar, a 19-4 technical fall at 174 lbs. from
Steve Edwards, and a 4-1 win by
Mike Geyer at 184 lbs.
Niebauer and Oliver closed out the 49-0 win with first period falls at 197 and 285 lbs. Niebauer pinned Raul Martinez at 1:43 and Oliver pinned Alphonse Ferrintino at 148.
With the loss, American International dropped to 0-7.
Pitt-Johnstown travel to a PSAC match at Gannon on Wednesday, before hosting a conference match against Seton Hill on January 25 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
