Volleyball to Host PSAC Matches Against California (PA) on Friday and Seton Hill on Saturday

Head Coach Justin Haup and the Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team will host a pair of PSAC Southwest Division matches this weekend.  The Mountain Cats will host California (PA) on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, and Seton Hill on Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, winners of four straight matches, comes into the weekend at 11-8 overall and 3-6 in the PSAC Southwest.  The Mountain Cats got 15 kills from PSAC Southwest Athlete of the Week Noelle Carota and 11 kills from Caitlin Vrabel in Wednesday's five-set, non-conference victory at Point Park.  The Mountain Cats also picked-up conference wins at Bloomsburg and at Lock Haven last weekend.
 
California (PA) is 9-8 overall and 4-5 in the PSAC Southwest under Head Coach Peter Letourneau after being swept by East Stroudsburg last Friday and suffer a five-set loss to Kutztown on Saturday.  Kaylin Burkey had a team-high nine kills against the Warriors, before adding a match-high 16 kills against the Golden Bears.  Chelsea Howard also had 15 kills for the Vulcans.
 
The Vulcans have won the last two meetings in the series, including a 3-sets-to-2 victory over Pitt-Johnstown in last year's PSAC Quarterfinals in the Sports Center on November 6.
 
Head Coach Rick Hall's Seton Hill Griffins, 10-8 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC Southwest, got a match-high 27 kills from Viktoria Farian in a five-set non-conference win over Fairmont State (WV) on Wednesday.  The Griffins also split two PSAC matches last weekend.  Seton Hill swept Kutztown last Friday, and suffered a straight sets loss to East Stroudsburg last Saturday.
 
Pitt-Johnstown has won the last six meetings with Seton Hill.  In the last meeting on September 22, 2018 in Greensburg, Maura Brehl and Vrabel each had 14 kills to lead Pitt-Johnstown, while Farian and Jillian Livorse had 19 and 16 kills, respectively for the Griffins.
 
Following this weekend's matches, Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC matches at Clarion and at Slippery Rock next weekend, before hosting three straight conference matches against Mercyhurst on November 7, Edinboro November 8, and Gannon November 9.
