Head Coach Bob Rukavina and his 5-1 Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball team are heading south to compete in the 2019 Puerto Rico Clasico.
The Mountain Cats will play three games this week in Puerto Rico. On Wednesday, Pitt-Johnstown will open against the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon, before taking on the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. Both of those games will be played at 7 p.m. at Marion Morales Stadium. Pitt-Johnstown will then close out the trip at the University of Sacred Heart on Friday at 10 a.m.
The Mountain Cats, winners of five straight games, are led by
John Paul Kromka's 19.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game.Â
Caiden Landis (13.8 ppg., 3.2 rpg.), and
Fred Mulbah (11.2 ppg., 3.5 rpg., 7.0 apg.) are also scoring in double figures, while
Joe Batt and
Josh Wise are averaging 9.8 and 9.5 points per game, respectively for Pitt-Johnstown.
Following the Puerto Rico Clasico, Pitt-Johnstown visits Bloomsburg for a PSAC Crossover game on December 7. The Mountain Cats will play their next home game on January 6 against Gannon as part of a PSAC doubleheader with the women's team. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center with the men's game scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
