Marisa Lizins' goal with under a minute remaining in regulation broke a 3-3 tie and lifted the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team to a 4-3 season-ending victory over PSAC rival Edinboro, Wednesday evening at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field. The Mountain Cats closed out the season at 7-11-0 overall and a program-best 6-10-0 in the PSAC.
Danielle Chatten's first of three goals on the day in the 12
th minute put Edinboro on top, but Pitt-Johnstown tied it 12 minutes later on
McKendra Walker's header off of Kyra Watkin' corner kick.
Chatten's second goal five minutes into the second half gave the lead back to the Fighting Scots, before the Mountain cats answered with a pair of goals to take their first lead. In the 60
th minute,
Emily Esser finished a rebound off of Edinboro goalkeeper Anna Voelker, and Watkin's goal from the top of the box off of
Danielle Lippl's assist in the 67
th minute gave Pitt-Johnstown a 3-2 lead.
Edinboro knotted it at three 13 minutes later when Chatten completed the hat trick.
However, with just 52 second left in regulation, Lizins took a deflected pass and found the back of an empty net to give Pitt-Johnstown the 4-3 victory.
Maria Mosquera did the job in net for the Mountain Cats. Mosquera saw 34 shots and made 13 saves.
Voelker took the loss for the Fighting Scots after seeing 17 Pitt-Johnstown shots, making six saves, and allowing all four goals.
With the loss, Edinboro fell to 9-5-3 overall and 9-3-2 in the PSAC.
