Slippery Rock Downs Mountain Cats, 3-0, in PSAC Play

Johnstown, PA

Slippery Rock opened-up a 2-0 halftime advantage, then added an insurance goal 14 minutes into the second half en route to a 3-0 PSAC victory over the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Mountain Cats are now 2-11-1 overall and 1-7-1 in conference-play.
 
Abdallah Bangura scored off of a rebound in the 26th minute to open the scoring, before Brian McCarthy's goal off of a corner kick in the 36th minute gave Slippery Rock a 2-0 halftime lead.
 
The Rock then added an insurance goal in the 59th minute on Luke Picchi's rebound and finish that set the final at 3-0.
 
Pitt-Johnstown's Sage Parsley took the loss in net after facing 15 shots and making three saves.
 
Matt Hunsberger and Derek Hoffman shared the shutout in goal for Slippery Rock.  Hunsberger played the first 75 minutes and made one save, and Hoffman played the final 15 minutes and made three saves.
 
With the win, The Rock improved to 8-7-2 overall and 5-4-0 in the PSAC.
 
The Mountain Cats will celebrate Senior Day and close out the 2019 season with a home PSAC match against Seton Hill on Saturday at noon.
