Baseball Splits Twinbill With Fairmont State in North Carolina

6820Jack Shirk drove in two runs, and Brady Walker pitched four strong innings to lead Pit-Johnstown to a 4-2 victory over Fairmont State (WV) University in Friday's opening game of a doubleheader in Mooresville, NC.  The Fighting Falcons came back with a 17-0 win in the nightcap to earn the split. 
 
In the opener, Pitt-Johnstown, 4-2 on the year. scored a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings and went on to the 4-2 victory.
 
Shirk doubled and drove in two, while Colin Pasone had an RBI for the Mountain Cats.  Tyler Smith also doubled for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Walker improved to 2-0 after holding Fairmont State to just two runs on six hits over the first four innings.  Walker also struck out seven and walked one.  Ben Foose 6826pitched the final three innings, fanned four, and held the Fighting Falcons scoreless to pick up his third save of the season.
 
In game two, Fairmont State exploded for 15 runs in the first inning and cruised to the 17-0 win.
 
With the split, the Fighting Falcons are now 5-1.
 
The Mountain Cats close out the three-game series against Fairmont State (WV) on Saturday, before traveling to three-game series at Concord (WV) University next weekend and at the University of Charleston (WV) on March 2 and 3.
