Mountain Cats Split With Hilltoppers to Close out Series

Washington, Pa.

6806Cameron Gerhard drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Mountain Cats an 8-7 walk-off win over West Liberty in Sunday's doubleheader opener in Washington, Pa.  The Hilltoppers came back with a 5-3 win in the nightcap to earn the split.  The Mountain Cats took 3-of-4 from West Liberty in the weekend series and improved to 9-4.
 
In game one, Colin Pasone had two hits and a pair of RBI, and Ben Foose drove in two for Pitt-Johnstown.  Owen McKeever and Gerhard also had an RBI for the Mountain Cats.
 
Christian Pfrogner picked up the win in relief of starter Braxton Roxby.  Pfrogner pitched five innings and limited the Hilltoppers to two runs on three hits.  Roxby pitched the first four innings and gave up five runs on four hits.
 
6813In the nightcap, West Liberty opened-up a 5-0 lead and went on to the 5-3 win.
 
Tyler Smith homered and drove in two for Pitt-Johnstown, and Dylan Broderick had two hits.
 
Joel Colledge suffered the loss after allowing four runs (2 earned) in 4 1/3 innings.
 
The Mountain Cats will open their home schedule with a non-conference doubleheader against Shippensburg on Friday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium, before traveling to Shippensburg for a pair of games on Saturday.
