After 10 games in Florida and a doubleheader at Millersville, the Pitt-Johnstown softball team will make its 2019 home debut with a non-conference doubleheader against Shippensburg University on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
Head Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora's Mountain Cats, led by PSAC Central Player of the Week
Jade Stubblefield, posted a 5-5 record on its Florida trip, then took a pair of 6-4 non-conference games at Millersville on Wednesday.Â
Bree Ginther had five hits and three RBI, and
Kristie Radvan had three hits and three RBI on Wednesday.
Kristen Coffay and
Ashley Pagliei picked up the wins in the circle in the Millersville sweep.
Shippensburg, under third-year
Head Coach Alison Van Scyoc, has won four games and is 11-7 overall after sweeping Seton Hill 5-3 and 3-2 last Saturday and Holy Family 8-0 and 8-1 last Sunday.Â
Courtney Coy went 6-for-9 with a homerun and
Kendall Geis added a homer in the sweep over Holy Family.
Last season, the Mountain Cats and Raiders split a pair of games on April 22 in Shippensburg. Pitt-Johnstown took the opener, 2-1, on
Stacey Walling's two-run double in the fifth inning. Shippensburg answered with a 5-3 win in the nightcap.Â
Tara Bicko and
Kayla Bonawitz each had two hits and an RBI for the Raiders.
Pitt-Johnstown will host a non-conference doubleheader against Edinboro on Wednesday at 1 p.m. before opening PSAC Central play on Friday with a doubleheader at Lock Haven. The Mountain Cats will then host a pair of conference games against Clarion on Saturday at V.E. Erickson Complex.
