Dylan Ruiz scored a pair of goals and Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College built a 3-0 halftime advantage on its way to defeating the Mountain Cat soccer team, 4-0 in Saturday's non-conference match in Rochester, NY. The Mountain Cats slipped to 1-3-0.
Ruiz finished an assist from Jaheed Loblack in the 19
th minute to open the scoring and give Roberts Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.
Eight minutes later, the Redhawks made it 2-0 on a Johanz Tusiime goal, before Alex Perez-Vega gave Roberts Wesleyan a 3-0 advantage at the half with an unassisted goal.
Ruiz then added a penalty kick goal in the 71
st minute that set the final at 4-0.
Jonathan Reboton took the loss in goal for Pitt-Johnstown after seeing 23 shots, making nine saves, and allowing four goals. Roberts Wesleyan's Jared Gibbons earned the shutout. Gibbons faced seven Mountain Cat shots and made three saves.
With the win, the Redhawks improved to 2-3-1 on the year.
The Mountain Cats host a non-conference match against Washington Adventist (MD) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before opening-PSAC play at California (PA) on Saturday.
