The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will kick-off a tripleheader in the Sports Center with PSAC games against Clarion, Saturday afternoon. The women will tip-off at 1 p.m., before the men recognize this year's seniors and take on the Golden Eagles at 3 p.m. The fourth-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers will close out the tripleheader against No. 21 Gannon at 7 p.m.

    The Mountain Cats, 19-6 overall and 13-5 in the PSAC Western Division, look to bounce back from a tough, 78-75, loss at Slippery Rock on Wednesday. Pitt-Johnstown cut a 14-point second half deficit to one, but
Josh Wise's 3-pointer as time ran out would not fall and the Rock was able to hold on.Â
John Paul Kromka had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Wise added 14 points and six rebounds. The Mountain Cats also got 11 points from
Caiden Landis and 10 points off the bench from
Marcin Wiszomirski.
    Wise, this week's PSAC West Athlete of the Week, ranks ninth on the Mountain Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,461 points.
    Nationally, Kromka is third in blocks (69), fifth in blocks per game (2.83), and 17
th in field goal percentage (61.4%), while
Fred Mulbah ranks fifth in assists (178), sixth in assists per game (7.1), 37
th in assist-to-turnover-ratio (2.44), and 69
th in steals (44). As a team, Pitt-Johnstown is third in assists (486), fourth in assists per game (19.4), and ninth in field goal percentage (51.2%).
    Clarion, 5-19 overall and 4-14 in the PSAC West under first-year
Head Coach Damian Pitts, snapped a five-game losing skid with a 79-70 home victory over Edinboro on Wednesday.Â
Stevan Rodriguez had a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, and
Elijah Cottrill and
Aaron Hilzendeger each tallied 18 points for the Golden Eagles.
    Nationally for the Golden Eagles, Rodriguez ranks 35
th in field goal percentage at 57.1%.
    Clarion holds a 35-22 advantage in the series, but Pitt-Johnstown has won 11 of the last 13 meetings, including a 67-64 victory in Clarion on January 11. Kromka had a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds, and
Joe Batt hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points to pace Pitt-Johnstown. Rodriquez (15 points),
Kaison Branch (11 points), and
James Price (10 points) all scored in double figures for the Golden Eagles.

Head Coach Mike Drahos' Pitt-Johnstown women's squad suffered through a tough shooting night and slipped to 13-11 overall and 8-10 in the PSAC West following Wednesday's 63-50 loss at Slippery Rock.Â
Gabrielle Smith had 10 points and six rebounds, and
Maddie Shanahan added seven points and matched her career-high with 12 rebounds.Â
Allie McGrath and
Olivia Fasick each scored nine points. Pitt-Johnstown also dealt Edinboro a 78-71 overtime loss behind Smith's 22 points and 10 rebounds, and McGrath's 16 points and nine rebounds on Saturday.
     Smith ranks ninth on the Pitt-Johnstown All-time Scoring List with 1,472 points and 23
rd on the rebounding list with 568 rebounds.
     Nationally for the Mountain Cats, Smith is fifth in free-throws made (145) and sixth in free-throws attempted (176), and Fasick is 46
th in steals (54), 50
th in assists (99), and 60
th in assists per game (4.1). As a team, Pitt-Johnstown ranks 28
th in steals (250), 41
st in free-throw percentage (75.6%), and 42
nd in steals per game (10.6).
     Clarion, under sixth-year
Head Coach Jana Ashley, has lost its last three games and fell to 4-20 overall and 2-16 in the PSAC West after Wednesday's 82-59 home loss to Edinboro.Â
Emily Hegedus scored 13 points, while
Yasmine Lewis had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds, and
Celeste Ryman chipped-in 10 points for the Golden Eagles.
     On January 11, Pitt-Johnstown, winners of four straight in the series, made the trip to Clarion and came away with a 75-64 victory behind Smith's game-high 20 points. McGrath (13 points), Fasick (12 points) and Shanahan (10 points, 9 rebounds) also scored in double figures for the Mountain Cats. The Golden Eagles were led by
Ke'Airah Massiah's 14 points, Ryman's 13 points, and
Yndia Bobo's 10 points.

Pitt-Johnstown visits Mercyhurst for a PSAC game on Wednesday, before coming home to celebrate Senior Night with a conference doubleheader with the men's team against Seton Hill on February 26 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center.
