
Pitt-Johnstown sophomore forward
John Paul Kromka was named to the 2019-20 Academic All-District® II Men's Basketball Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) when this year's teams were released on Thursday. Kromka, who has a 3.92 GPA in Engineering, will advance to the national ballot for voting to become an Academic All-American.

The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Kromka, a native of Monroeville, Pa. and a graduate of Gateway High School, has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week three times, and the Defensive Athlete of the Week four times in 2019-20.

He leads Pitt-Johnstown in scoring (15.1 ppg.), rebounding (8.1 rpg.), and blocked shots. He is also second on the team in field goals percentage (.59.7%) and assists (65) and third in steals (29).

Nationally, Kromka, the 2018-19 PSAC West Freshman and Defensive Athlete of the Year, ranks fourth in total blocks (71), seventh in blocks per game (2.63), 21
st in field goal percentage (59.7%), 40
th in total rebounds (218), and 44
th in offensive rebounds per game (2.96).
