Wise, Kromka Tabbed 1st-Team All-PSAC West; Kromka Repeats at Defensive Player of Year

Wise, JoshKromka, John PaulSenior guard Josh Wise and sophomore forward John Paul Kromka were both named First-Team All-PSAC West Men's Basketball, while Kromka repeated at the PSAC Western Division's Defensive Athlete of the Year when this year's all-conference honors as voted on by the league's coaches were released on Thursday.
 
Wise is a two-time First-Team choice, and Kromka joined the first-team after being on the second-team last season.
 
PSAC West Athlete of the Year Malik Miller (IUP) and PSAC East Athlete of the Year Jake Biss (Shippensburg) headline the 2019-20 PSAC All-Conference Teams.
 
Kromka and Shippensburg's Lamar Talley were awarded the defensive athlete of the year awards in their respective divisions, and Ethan Porterfield (Indiana (PA) and Robbie Heath (West Chester) were the Freshman of the Year.
 
Mercyhurst's Gary Manchel and Shippensburg's Chris Fite are the 2019-20 PSAC West and East Coaches of the year.
 
Wise, a native of Washington, Pa. and a Washington High School graduate, earned First-Team All-PSAC honors for the second straight year after averaging 12.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.  Wise, the PSAC West Athlete of the Week on February 10, finished second on team in scoring, 3-point field goals (41), assists (76), and steals (42). 
 
Wise closed out his career ranked sixth on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List (1,541 pts.), 14th on the all-time rebounding list (522 rebs.), and 15th on the all-time assists list (266 assts).
 
Kromka, a five-time PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week and a three-time Athlete of the Week choice in 2019-20, on his way to being tabbed First-Team All-PSAC and Defensive Player of the Year.  The Monroeville native and Gateway High School graduate led the team in scoring (15.2 ppg.), rebounding (8.3 rpg.), blocks (78), and field goal percentage (61.4%). He also topped the PSAC in field goal Percentage, total blocks, and blocked shots per game (2.5).
 
In just two seasons at Pitt-Johnstown, Kromka has scored 918 points and pulled down 489 rebounds.
 
Nationally, Kromka, a member of the 2019-20 First-Team Academic All-District II Team, ranks third in total blocks, seventh in blocks per game, and 16th in field goal percentage.
