
Pitt-Johnstown junior forward
John Paul Kromka, a two-time PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year, was named the PSAC Western Division's Defensive Player of the Week when the conference office announced its first weekly awards of the 2021-22 season on Monday.
In a pair of Pitt-Johnstown victories over the weekend at the Indiana (PA) IRMC/Hilton Garden Inn Classic, Kromka averaged 20.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 2.5 assists per game. He also shot 77.3% (17-22) from the field and 7-11 from the free-throw line.
In Friday's season-opening, 96-91 overtime victory over Concord (WV), Kromka scored game-high 26 points on 11-14 shooting and 4-6 free-throws, grabbed 10 rebounds, and collected a game-high 5-blocks.
He followed that performance with 15 points (6-8 shooting, 3-5 free-throws) and game-highs of 14 rebounds and three blocks in Saturday's 77-49 win over West Virginia Wesleyan. Kromka also dished out five assists.
