
Coming off of a victory and a draw in its last two matches, the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team was looking to close out the 2021 season on a high note. However, Edinboro jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and went on to a 3-1 PSAC Western Division win over the Mountain Cats, Wednesday evening in Edinboro.
Mia Dirienzo accounted for the Pitt-Johnstown goal, as the Mountain Cats' season came to an end at 5-11-2 overall and 4-10-2 in conference-play.
With 13:33 remaining in the opening half, Lexi Boyk took a pass from Reece Enochs and found the back of the net to give the Fighting Scots a 1-0 advantage.
Edinboro then made it 2-0 at the break on a Haydn Paxton penalty kick at the 3:13 mark.
Pitt-Johnstown quickly cut the deficit in half on a Dirienzo header off of
Emily Esser's assist less than four minutes into the second half, but the Fighting Scots

got that goal back in the 61
st minute and went on to the 3-1 victory.

Sachi Negri took the loss after seeing 20 shots, making six saves, and allowing all three goals.
Anna Voelker picked-up the win in goal for Edinboro after surrendering just one goal. Voelker faced a pair of Pitt-Johnstown shots and made one save.
The Fighting Scots, who clinched a spot in the upcoming PSAC Women's Soccer Championships with the victory, improved to 9-7-0 overall and 8-7-0 in the PSAC West.
