Softball Bounces Back to Sweep Edinboro, 10-8 and 21-0

Radvan_KristiePitt-Johnstown bounced back from Friday's doubleheader losses to Edinboro with a 10-8 and a 21-0 five-inning PSAC Western Division sweep over the Fighting Scots, Wednesday afternoon in Edinboro.  Kristie Radvan drove in six, Olivia Porter had five hits and four RBI, and Stacey Walling collected four hits, including a three-run homer for the Mountain Cats, now 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC West.
 
Pitt-Johnstown got its bats going and scored 31 and banged out 33 hits in the doubleheader sweep.
 
In game 1, Radvan had three hits and drove in four and Porter added three hits and two RBI to help the Mountain Cats climb out to a 10-4 lead in the 10-8 win.
 
Maura Pasquale doubled home Mackenzie Quider to give Edinboro an early first inning lead, before Nya Adams' triple to the gap in right-center in the Fighting Scots' half of the second chased home Morgan Spitler to make it 2-0.
 
Porter_OliviaPitt-Johnstown answered with six runs in the top of the third off of Edinboro starter Macy Sral.  Porter led off with a single and scored on Taylor Mendicino's base hit to center.  Radan doubled home Mendicino, and Walling's single to left plated Radvan to give the Mountain Cats a 3-2 lead.  Pitt-Johnstown tacked on three more unearned runs.  After Walling scored on an Edinboro error with two outs, Porter collected her second hit of the inning, a two-run double, that scored Laura Fox and Carly Santillo.
 
Two more runs on Radvan's RBI single and Santillo's RBI double extended the lead to 8-2 in the middle of the fourth.
 
Edinboro cut the deficit in half with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Radvan's double to right center scored Porter and Ali Belgiovane in the Mountain Cat fifth to rebuild the lead to 10-4.
 
Walling_Stacey.jpgQuider's two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, and Jolene Teller's two-run single in the sixth narrowed the Fighting Scots' deficit to 10-8.
 
Radvan went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and two runs, while Porter also was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs to lead Pitt-Johnstown.  Santillo added two doubles and drove in two, and Walling had two hits and an RBI.  The Mountain Cats also got an RBI single from Mendicino.
 
Kristen Coffay picked the win and improved in to 1-2 with the complete-game in the circle.  Coffay allowed eight runs on 13 hits, while striking out five and walking just one.
 
In game two, stormed out to a 13-0 lead with seven runs in the first and six more in the second on its way to the sweep a 21-0 victory.
 
Pitt-Johnstown banged out seven hits and jumped on Edinboro starter Dylan Claycomb for seven first inning runs.  Radvan's fielder's choice scored Porter, who led off the game with a double, and Walling followed with a three-run homerun.  A Fighting Scots' error allowed Santillo and Bree Ginther to score, and Porter drove home Sydney Flinn with an RBI single to right field.
 
RBI singles from Ginther, Belgiovane, and Radvan and Fox's sacrifice fly that plated Walling highlighted a six-run Mountain Cat second inning that pushed the lead to 13-0.
 
Cassidy Kern doubled and scored on an Edinboro error and Belgiovane drove in Fox and Porter with a single to left in the Pitt-Johnstown third to make it 16-0.
 
The Mountain Cats tacked on five more in the sixth to set the final at 21-0.
 
Belgiovane went 4-5for-5 with three RBI and three runs, Fox had three hits and an RBI, and Walling had two hits, including the three-run homerun.  Mendicino, Kern, and Fox all added two hits and an RBI, and Radvan had an hit and drove in two for the Mountain Cats.
 
Alyssa Hileman evened her record at 1-1 after holding Edinboro scoreless on four hits in the five-inning win.  Hileman also struck out four and didn't allow a walk.
 
With the losses, the Fighting fell to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC West.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will open a four-game PSAC Western Division series against Seton Hill with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex, before traveling to Greensburg on Sunday to wrap-up the series.
