Â
Coming off of a PSAC doubleheader sweep at Edinboro on Wednesday, the Pitt-Johnstown softball team will open a home-and-home, four-game conference series against Seton Hill University on Saturday at V.E. Erickson Complex. Game times are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.
Â
Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora's Mountain Cats, 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC West, bounced back from a pair of conference losses to Edinboro on Friday with 10-8 and 21-0 (5 Innings) wins over the Fighting Scots on Wednesday. Pitt-Johnstown collected 33 hits in the sweep. Â
Kristie Radvan drove in six,
Olivia Porter had five hits and four RBI, and
Stacey Walling added four hits, including a three-run homer.Â
Kristen Coffay and
Alyssa Hileman each earned complete-games victories in the circle for the Mountain Cats.
Â
Seton Hill is 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC West under third-year
Coach Jessica Strong. The Griffins suffered 5-2 and 6-4 non-conference losses to Walsh (OH) on Wednesday. Seton Hill freshman pitcher
Lauren Dellett has been named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week the last two weeks.
Â
The Griffins hold a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series. In the last meeting on April 17, 2017, Pitt-Johnstown and Seton Hill split a pair of games in Greensburg. The Mountain Cats took the opener, 4-1, behind
Melissa Wagner's seven-strikeout, complete-game, before the Griffins answered with a 4-1 win in the nightcap.
Â
Pitt-Johnstown goes to Seton Hill on Sunday to complete the home-and-home series and to Clarion next Friday for a PSAC doubleheader, before hosting the Golden Eagles on March 27 at 1 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
