The Pitt-Johnstown softball team will close out its PSAC Western Division series against Slippery Rock with a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at V.E. Erickson complex.  Game times are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
 
Pitt-Johnstown and Slippery Rock opened the series in Slippery Rock on Friday. Those games are not reflected in either team's record.
 
Pitt-Johnstown, under 
Coach Niki Cognigni-Pecora, is 6-20 overall and 5-15 in the PSAC West after splitting a pair of Senior Day, non-conference games with Mercyhurst on Sunday.  The Lakers took game one, 10-4, but the Mountain Cats came back with a 4-2 win in the nightcap behind 
Ashley Pagliei's complete game in the circle.  
Maddie Flowers hit a solo homerun, and 
Jade Stubblefield added a three-run homer and four RBI on the day.
 
Slippery Rock, under seventh-year 
Coach Stacey Rice, lost three-of-four games to Clarion last weekend and enters the weekend at 8-22 overall and 6-18 in the PSAC West.  After winning last weekend's opener 8-0 in six innings, The Rock suffered 8-4, 11-10 (9 innings), and 10-7 losses to the Golden Eagles.
 
Pitt-Johnstown and Slippery Rock met four times in 2015 and the Rock won three of those games.  On March 24, 2015, the Rock took game one, 8-1, but Pitt-Johnstown got the split with a 9-8 win in the nightcap.  On April 13, 2015 in Johnstown, Slippery Rock swept the Mountain Cats, 14-1, and 10-2.
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC doubleheaders at California (PA) on Monday and Gannon on Thursday, before hosting the Golden Knights on Friday at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. at V.E. Erickson Complex.
