Mountain Cats Suffer 3-0 Non-Conference Setback at Washington Adventist

Box Score Kuhn_Chase.JPGWashington Adventist (MD) University used a pair of goals in the final six minutes of the opening half to build a 2-0 advantage, and went on to down the Pitt-Johnstown men's soccer team, 3-0 in Friday's non-conference match in Takoma Park, MD.  The Mountain Cats slipped to 1-2-0 on the year.
 
Alexander Villantoro put the Shock on top 1-0 with an unassisted goal with six minutes remaining in the first half, before Villantoro set-up Bradley Jean, who found the back of the net behind Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Sage Parsley, with under a minute remaining to make it 2-0 at the break.
 
Pitt-Johnstown had a chance to cut the deficit in half midway through the second half, but Washington Adventist goalkeeper Sean McGuire made a save on Chase Kuhn's penalty kick attempt to keep the lead at 2-0.
 
Washington Adventist then got an insurance goal from Ernesto Rey in the final minute of the match to set the final at 3-0.
 
Parsley faced 16 Shock shots, made seven saves, and allowed all three goals, while McGuire earned the shutout in net for Washington Adventist after seeing eight Mountain Cat shots and making a pair of saves.
 
Washington Adventist evened its record a 1-1-0.
 
The Mountain Cats travel to a non-conference match at Shepherd (WV) on Sunday, before making their 2021 home debut with a non-conference match against D'Youville (NY) on Tuesday, September 21 at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
