Lauren Gechter collected a career-high 19 kills and
Lualis Alvarado added 11 kills and 10 digs to elevate Pitt-Johnstown over Frostburg State in a Tri-Match Tournament on Saturday. Gechter also tallied two blocks and four digs in the four-set victory.
The Mountain Cats started off strong winning the first two sets 25-19 and 27-25. Frostburg was able to force a fourth set by winning the third set 23-25. Then, the Mountain Cats were able to seal the deal in a close fourth set winning 25-22.
Contributing to the cause for Pitt-Johnstown,
Grace Miller registered seven kills and 17 digs.
Erin Carmody had a team-high 20 digs and combining for 14 kills was
Katelyn Courtney(7) and
Cassie Pascarella(7).
Adiamar Beaz tallied a team-high 32 assists to go along with nine digs and
Abi Leitner finished with 13 assists and two blocks.
Beverly Braun had 16 kills and 20 digs which were both team-highs for Frostburg State as they fell to 1-9 on the season.
With a pair of wins at the Frostburg State Tri-Match, Pitt- Johnstown improves to 7-1 on the year and looks forward to starting PSAC play at Slippery Rock University on Tuesday, September 21.
Pitt-Johnstown opens PSAC-West play at Slippery Rock on Tuesday, before making its 2021 home debut with a conference match against Mercyhust on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the sports Center.
